About Me

Who am I (Ana Sayfa)

Hi, I’m Yusuf Efe Kızılöz. I was born on August 4, 2007, in Kayseri and grew up in Avanos, a small town in Nevşehir. Because my family is originally from Avanos, most of my relatives live in the same district, which helped me build strong family ties from an early age.

I was always a curious kid—I loved visiting their workplaces and sharing a glass of Turkish tea: an engineering office, a tech store, a garden supplies shop, a hotel—each one fascinated me in a different way.

With Cappadocia right in Nevşehir, I also grew up in a very multicultural setting. I had the chance to make friends from many countries and family backgrounds, and noticing that diversity early on sparked my desire to step beyond what could sometimes feel like an isolated fishbowl and see other ways of life.

I completed my primary and middle school at Kardelen College and, after the high-school entrance exam, was admitted to Robert College. I’m now 18, a high-school student with a strong interest in economics, finance, and management.

Harvard University — ECON S-1452: Money, Financial Institutions and Markets

As part of the 8-week, for-credit Harvard Secondary School Program, I completed Bruce Watson’s “ECON S-1452: Money, Financial Institutions and Markets” with an A-, earning 4 credits. I learned how the financial system allocates capital and manages risk—covering portfolio allocation and the risk return trade-off (including CAPM), market efficiency and behavioral finance perspectives, equity valuation and security analysis, bonds and the termstructure/yield curve, derivatives and basic option pricing, money and banking, and the role of central banks and monetary policy.

Business and Financial Modeling Course by University of Pennsylvania

Through Wharton Online's Course “Fundamentals of Quantitative Modeling” by Richard Waterman, I learned to frame decisions with models, build and optimize linear models, capture uncertainty with probability, distributions, Monte Carlo, and Markov chains, and use regression for prediction. I practiced turning spreadsheet data into present/future forecasts and strengthened skills in financial/statistical modeling, forecasting, optimization, simulation thinking, and risk-aware decision making.

Rotary Youth Leadership Awards

I helped my Rotary club organize a RYLA program. Later, I completed a leadership course led by a former Rotary District 2420 Governor and earned a certificate. The training strengthened my skills in teamwork, constructive and effective leadership, and creative thinking.

A to Z Investment Course by Prof.Dr.Yaşar Erdinç

Through Prof. Dr. Yaşar Erdinç’s “A-to-Z Investing” course, I learned the fundamentals—and then the finer details—of both fundamental and technical analysis. We also covered setting investment objectives, designing medium- and long-term strategies, and managing the investment process end to-end. In addition, I was trained to apply these concepts efficiently in Excel, including building simple screeners, ratio/valuation models, using technical indicators, and running basic back-tests.

Field Experience

Career Development Club

As PR Leader, I coordinated event announcements across class groups and campus channels, built a simple content calendar to keep outreach consistent, refreshed the club’s visual tone, and moderated panels in medicine, business, and economics with parent & student participation—120+ attendees in total, including Q&A facilitation and timekeeping.

Capital Management Club

In 2023–24 I served as PR Leader, managing the club’s social channels, refreshing the visual identity, and launching the “Capitalks” series—personally inviting 2 speakers and moderating both sessions to keep discussion tight and practical.

In 2024–25 I was elected Club President. I introduced a committee system to make operations systematic and accountable, and I steered the club toward hands-on learning by running 5 member-led case-study sessions focused on financial literacy. On outreach, I launched TikTok and scaled Instagram from 299 → 1,040 followers (≈+248%), which—together with clearer programming—drove +400% growth in active membership. This year club reached its full capacity thanks to increasing reputation.

Personal Investments

I began managing my own investments at 15, using instruments like gold, the Turkish stock market, and foreign exchange (forex). I’m still actively investing—continuously learning and building on my experience. I’m also developing my skills with leveraged products and am excited to start trading with leverage soon.

Online Sales Manager

I worked as a registered, part-time Online Sales Manager, supporting the company’s storefronts on Hepsiburada (e-commerce marketplace). I managed day-to-day operations—building and updating product listings, setting pricing and promotional campaigns, tracking inventory and orders, and handling customer support. On Hepsiburada, the operation averaged $40K in monthly revenue.

Paid Internship at Samsung Central Anatolia Region

From 02 August 2024 to 08 September 2024, I completed a paid internship at one of Samsung Türkiye’s authorized dealers under the supervision of the Regional Sales Manager. I contributed to payroll and document administration, reviewed store-level P&L and cash-flow items, prepared concise notes on sales-advisory essentials and customer psychology, and supported stock counts and product procurement (PO tracking, delivery reconciliation, vendor coordination). The role strengthened my attention to detail, time management, and solution-oriented communication, and helped me translate theory into practical, value-adding outcomes.

Interact

Interact

Kızılöz

At Robert College Interact, I built a consistent social-media content calendar and handled poster/visual design and copywriting. I also took over a podcast that had been started the previous term and brought it to completion—adding subtitles, designing the intro/outro, editing the audio and video, and planning the release schedule for the final publication. Afterwards, feeling the club was not fully aligned with Interact’s mission and vision, I chose to step away and founded “Peace Interact” to embody that vision more fully.

Robert College Interact

After leaving Robert College Interact, I founded Peace Interact to fully realize Interact’s peace-oriented vision—thus entering Interact history as Turkey’s first thematic (peace) Interact club. We began with 30 members selected from different schools; we set up a committee system and professionalized our processes, and I managed the project’s planning, budget, and communications by defining shared goals and metrics. Being organized was crucial for us in this period, because as a newly established club our main aim was to start our activities quickly. In addition, based on my past Interact experience I had observed that inactive members were a major problem; therefore, together with our executive board, we created a committee structure that would include everyone in the organizational process. We succeeded, and despite being a newly established club, we carried out 20+ projects, faithfully reflecting Interact’s vision and mission. Now in its third year, Peace Interact continues its work; I serve as Honorary President and advisor to the executive board. Here are some of them:

Ghost Nets Clean-Up Project

In the Finike district of Antalya, our team completed two days of dive training and received our one-star diver certifications. Then, as a team, we conducted three days of scuba dives, collecting 30+ kg of trash and waste harmful to marine life from the underwater ecosystem. Afterwards, we made a donation to the TEMA Foundation in proportion to the amount of waste we collected, supporting the reforestation of our country, whose “lungs” were scorched by forest fires. With this project we participated in the Sabanci Inter-High School Social Responsibility Competition and, among 118 projects, we entered the top 8 and qualified as finalists. The project also received media recognition across 16 outlets (4 national, 12 local).

From Classroom to Stage

By obtaining special permits from the municipality and in cooperation with the school administration, we carried out sports, theatre, music, and crafts workshops at a socioeconomically disadvantaged school in Şişli, reaching 100 primary-school students. Our aim was to provide children who lack opportunities with experiences in different disciplines—entertaining them while also broadening their horizons and giving them diverse experiences. We also guided students in making clay bowls so they could take a tangible keepsake home to remember the experience. After the project, we donated a sustainable activity set to the school: 12 balls, 3 goblet drums (darbukas), 2 cymbals, 3 maracas, and numerous finger puppets.

Giraffe Language” (Nonviolent Communication for our communities) Project

Under the leadership of Sezer Aksoy, within the “Giraffe Language” project we took part in workshops on healthy and nonviolent communication and learned about the peace language referred to as “giraffe language.” We then went to Türkan Şoray Primary School and aimed to spread the language of peace by conveying the nonviolent communication skills we learned in the workshops to the primary-school children there, reaching 50 students. I would like to thank Sezer Aksoy for this project!

RYLA & leadership development

I supported the organization of the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) training in coordination with Rotary District 2420, handling logistics and program delivery. The cohort brought together 60 Interact members for an intensive curriculum delivered by former District Governors; I completed the training myself and fed its methods back into Peace Interact’s committee system and project operations.

"Seize the Summit" film secreening

In cooperation with Barış Rotary, we organized a screening of the documentary by Arwa Damon and Binnur Karaevli, aiming to raise awareness about the destructiveness of war and humanitarian action, with a target audience of 200+ participants. I thank Arwa Damon, who—like me—is a Robert College graduate, for “Seize the Summit,” a documentary that raises awareness about the devastation of war.

Assistant District Representative responsible for the Career Development Committee (2024–2025) · Secretary of Committees (2025–2026) The experiences I gained in Interact District 2420 were the most developmental for me, but also the most challenging. After my presidency at Peace Interact, I was elected to Interact District 2420 as the Assistant District Representative responsible for the Career Development Committee. During this duty, together with my dear friend, whom I still hold very dear, Deniz Sevimli, we accomplished very important work and, as is often the case in Interact’s history, we were the first in many things. After my role in the 2024–2025 term, due to my performance I was specially recommended by Rotary and appointed as the administrative secretary responsible for committees of District 2420. I am still carrying out this duty and striving to fulfill Interact’s core mission—spreading goodness to the environment and to people and creating real impact—in the best way possible.

Below you can find some of the work I have accomplished during my term of office.

Assistant District Representative responsible for the Career Development Committee (2024–2025)

Career Talks Summit: I organized the Career Talks series, implemented within Interact 2420 independent of Rotaract for the first time in Interact’s history. In this intimate and interactive meeting format, we bring together young people at the threshold between high school and university with role models from different sectors to support them in taking informed steps in their choice of profession and career planning, and to present under one roof current industry insights, real career stories, and immediately actionable advice. Building on the first Interact-only summit, we co-hosted a second edition with Rotaract, reaching a combined audience of ~500 participants. We carried out the events with the valuable contributions of Ali Bozer (CEO of Balparmak), Tuğba Balkılı (founder of Balkılı Audit), and Dr. İbrahim Bilgen (renowned psychiatrist).

District magazine: I provided logistics and communications support to many Interact clubs upon request—including Galatasaray Interact’s “Zirve” event. I also held weekly meetings with the presidents of 100+ clubs across the district to support their projects, troubleshoot internal issues, and keep clubs active. As the first assistant to the district representative to initiate these presidents’ meetings, I launched the series and maintained its cadence throughout the term.

Communication with Clubs: I provided logistics and communications support to many Interact clubs upon request—including Galatasaray Interact’s “Zirve” event. I also met with the presidents of more than 100 clubs across the district to support their projects and worked to troubleshoot internal club issues, helping strengthen the Interact community. Additionally, I was the first assistant of the district representative that started meetings with the club presidents.

Secretary of Committees (2025–2026)

I was appointed by Rotary as Administrative Secretary of Committees for outstanding service as Assistant Representative. I formed the Assistant to District Representative—Committees team, selecting 6 assistants and setting their project plans. I co-led Meet & Greet Days (Rotary–Rotaract–Interact), engaging 500+ participants from various clubs across the district, and during the event I identified club-level shortcomings and initiated a structured resolution process. I continue to manage committee cadence and district-wide coordination.

Other Community Involvement Projects

As Project Leader in Robert College’s Community Involvement Project “Little Heroes,” I designed the curriculum and classroom logistics; coordinated and evaluated 12 instructors; and delivered English, Mathematics, and Science lessons to 35 children (ages 3–12) whose medical treatment disrupted schooling—aiming to prevent learning loss and sustain academic continuity.
